How We Achieved a 4-Week Lead Time

Introduction

In an industry with constant pressure to decrease lead times, Delta Garments has set a new standard by achieving lead times of 4 weeks from order placement to shipment.

The Challenge

Our client, a prominent name in fast fashion, came to us with a problem. They needed us to turn around bulk production in just four weeks from the time of order placement. In an industry where the normal lead times are from 16-20 weeks, this was a completely different ball-game.

Here’s how we did it.

  • Fits and colors, ready to go: We had already sampled all our client’s fits, and sent them complete shade libraries for washing and colors. This meant no more waiting around for approvals – saving at least 2 weeks.
  • Fast sampling and quick approvals: In anticipation, we had already reserved space in sampling for our client. When the request came in, we were able to ready the sample within 48 hours. Furthermore, the client was happy to approve styling and other details on photos.
  • Fabric on the floor: Our client had already put down a deposit for the fabric, so we had it ready to go as soon as the order arrived. This clever move cut our fabric lead time from 45 days down to zero.
  • Production space: By staying in sync with our client's needs, we made sure we had production space reserved just for them, every month.
  • Shipment samples: Like with the PP samples, we used photos for approving shipment samples too, and sent the client the samples as reference.

The Outcome

Once everything is in order, physically producing the garments typically takes around 3-4 weeks at Delta Garments. By rethinking our processes and staying a step ahead, we managed to get the order to production within 1 week of placement, and produced in 3 weeks.

So that’s how we achieved a 4 week lead time. It's a big deal for us and a huge win for our client.

Trust – The Secret Ingredient

This isn't just a story about being fast. It's also about trust. We trust our clients to back us up when we move quickly for them. And they trust us – enough to finance the fabric and approve samples just from photos. At the end of the day, this mutual trust is the secret recipe to making everything work so smoothly.

Conclusion

At Delta Garments, we're not just cutting down on time; we're building strong, trust-based partnerships that push the boundaries of what's possible in fashion.
